Just hours before his untimely death, singer Liam Payne quietly made a generous donation to help a young cancer patient — a final act of kindness that has touched many.
The former One Direction star passed away at the age of 31 after falling from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The tragic accident led to severe internal and external injuries, and he died two weeks ago. But even in his final hours, Liam was thinking of others.
One of the last people he helped was 28-year-old Jack, who is currently battling Stage 4 B-cell lymphoma. Jack, a former chef, has been unable to work due to his condition and the intense treatment he’s undergoing.
He recalled how his symptoms first appeared minor — just a sore area he thought was from a workout. But after his neck and arm swelled, a hospital visit led to unexpected news. “I thought it was a simple injury, but the CT scan and biopsy showed I had cancer. It was hard to take in, but I’ve come to terms with it.”
Being in and out of hospital for chemotherapy has taken a toll on Jack, who often feels isolated. “The loneliness and anxiety are tough,” he said. “Some days I can’t even look at my phone. But when I’m feeling a bit better, I read or try to make music.”

Jack launched a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of his treatment, with a target of £77,600. So far, it’s raised over £26,000. Among the many supporters, one name stood out: Liam Payne.
Just hours before his passing, Liam donated £2,300 to Jack’s fundraiser. At first, Jack couldn’t believe it — he assumed it was fake. “I thought someone was messing around, pretending to be Liam,” he said.
But after Liam’s death made headlines, and multiple reliable sources confirmed the donation, Jack realized it was genuine. “Knowing it was really him left me speechless. I feel incredibly grateful and lucky.”
Liam was known for his generosity and support for people going through hard times, often helping others quietly. Jack said learning about Liam’s final good deed brought him comfort: “It truly warmed my heart to know that helping others brought him peace, even in his final moments.”
